How AI skin analysis works

AI skin analysis turns a photo into measurements. A model locates the face, reads regions of it for texture, tone and marks, scores what it finds against patterns learned from many faces, and maps those findings onto a routine. It is pattern matching, not diagnosis.

What the model is actually reading

It reads the picture, not your skin. The model finds the face, divides it into regions such as forehead, cheeks, under-eyes and chin, then measures surface signals in each: shine, texture, tone differences, visible marks and the shape of the outline.

  • Face and landmark detection, which fixes where each region is
  • Tone and colour variation across regions, which surfaces pigmentation and redness
  • Texture and surface detail, which surfaces congestion, dryness and pores
  • Outline and proportion, which is what a face shape result is derived from

From measurements to a report

Measurements on their own mean nothing to a reader, so they are matched against patterns learned from many labelled faces and turned into named findings. Each finding is then mapped to widely accepted cosmetic advice, which is how a list of observations becomes a morning and night routine.

What a confidence score means

A confidence score says how strongly the image matched a pattern, not how certain the finding is true. High confidence on a bad photo is still a bad answer. Treat a low score as a prompt to retake the photo in better light rather than as a mild version of the finding.

This is why evidence matters more than the number. A finding shown on your own face can be checked by you; a score cannot.

Where it stops

The model has only ever seen a flat image. It cannot feel texture, see below the surface, know your history or watch how something changes over months. Anything that needs those is a job for a dermatologist, and no amount of model confidence replaces it.

Get a routine for your own skin

Saundarya AI is an AI skin analysis and grooming app that reads a single selfie and returns a personalised report: face shape, skin type, detected skin concerns with the visual evidence behind them, a morning and night skincare routine, product picks at three budgets, and an 8-week improvement plan.

Generic advice is a starting point. A scan reads what the model finds on your own face on your own face, shows the visual evidence and a confidence score, and builds a morning and night routine around it. The first full analysis is free.

This is general cosmetic guidance, not medical advice. See a dermatologist for skin that is painful, spreading, scarring or not improving after 8-12 weeks.
